Non ci sarebbe bisogno di descrizione per questa bella immagine, ripresa il 12 marzo 2020 ed offertaci da Giuseppe Fichera, che ritrae un convoglio merci composto dalla coppia di locomotive diesel FS del gruppo D.345 (precisamente le unità 1032 in livrea originale e 1144 in livrea XMPR) impegnate a trasferire da Catania Bicocca a Caltagirone alcuni carri pianale serie Rs carichi di binari. Sullo sfondo l’Etna, l’imponente vulcano che da circa un mese, con i suoi parossismi, rende affascinante ed unico lo scenario circostante.

The Volcano and the Train (Photo of the Month n. 131 – March 2021)
There would be no need for a description to this beautiful image, taken on 12 March 2020 and offered to us by Giuseppe Fichera. This photo portrays a freight train composed of two FS diesel locos of the D.345 group ( the 1032 unit in the original livery and 1144 in XMPR livery) committed to transfer some Rs series flat wagons loaded with tracks from Catania Bicocca to Caltagirone. In the background, Mount Etna, the imposing volcano whos from about a month, with its paroxysms, has made the surrounding scenery fascinating and unique.
