Il titolo di questa Foto del Mese è all’insegna dell’ottimismo per le recenti notizie di un più che possibile ripristino funzionale, inizialmente a fini turistici (successivamente, chissà!), della linea Alcantara – Randazzo. Siamo a Motta Camastra, nel gennaio 1996, e un treno storico speciale Catania – Randazzo, stracolmo di turisti e appassionati, finanziato dalla ex Provincia Regionale di Catania (all’epoca presieduta dall’On. Nello Musumeci, attuale Presidente della Regione Sicilia), attraversa il bellissimo Ponte San Cataldo. Per l’occasione in testa al convoglio la bellissima locomotiva a vapore Gr.740.244 (ancora oggi attiva nel parco rotabili della Fondazione FS Italiane), alcune carrozze “Centoporte”, un bagagliaio a due assi ed in coda una locomotiva diesel Gr D.443

Will come back! (Photo of the month nr. 119 – March 2020)
The title of this Photo of the Month is full of optimism for the recent news of a possible reactivation, initially for tourism purposes (later, who knows!) of the Alcantara – Randazzo line. We are in Motta Camastra, in January 1996, and a special historical train Catania – Randazzo, with many tourists and rail enthusiasts, funded by the former Regional Province of Catania (at the time chaired by Hon. Nello Musumeci, current President of the Sicily Region), cross the beautiful Ponte San Cataldo. For the occasion, at the head of the train, there was the beautiful steam locomotive Gr. 740,244 (still active in the rolling stock of the FS Italiane Foundation), some “Centoporte” passenger wagon, a two-axle postal service wagon and at the rear a diesel locomotive Gr D. 443.
